Grace Mugabe Recalls Mugabe Nujoma Bond in Namibia Visit

Grace Mugabe came to Namibia on Thursday. She visited Kovambo Nujoma at her home in Windhoek. Grace wanted to share her sadness about Sam Nujoma passing away.

The former first lady of Zimbabwe talked about how close her husband, Robert Mugabe, was with Sam Nujoma. She said she and Robert often spent their free time in Namibia.

Grace remembered when both families went to Terrace Bay with their children. The two leaders enjoyed fishing together at that spot.

"They had a very close friendship," Grace told Kovambo as she comforted her. "I had to come here myself to say how sorry I am. I could not stay home because of how much our husbands cared for each other."

She knew Nujoma before he became president. He met with Robert many times during the fight for freedom.

"I saw him talk with my husband about his dreams for Namibia. He showed great love for the people here. When Namibia became free, I felt happy because I knew what he wanted for his country. I am glad he lived to see his wishes come true," Grace said.

She praised Kovambo for standing by her husband. Grace called Nujoma a man of strong values. His success came from the care and help Kovambo gave him.

"I am happy to see you. I want to live long like you do. You inspire me," Grace told Kovambo. Thank you for taking care of him. You did great work. He reached his goals in Namibia, Africa, and beyond because you helped him."
