GTA VI Pushed to 2026 Fans Are Fuming

Rockstar Games pushed back Grand Theft Auto VI to May 26, 2026, missing its planned Fall 2025 release. Despite earlier promises from Take-Two Interactive chief Strauss Zelnick that the game would arrive on schedule, many industry watchers saw this delay coming.

Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier revealed that Rockstar staff had known the Fall 2025 date was unrealistic for months. The delay stems from both the amount of work needed and management's desire to prevent harsh overtime for developers. This marks a possible culture shift at Rockstar, which faced criticism for intense work demands during past game launches.

The company aims to give teams enough time to finish the highly anticipated game without burning out. This decision could influence other game studios to adopt similar worker-friendly practices when facing tight deadlines. Fans will need to wait a bit longer, but the extra time may result in a better final product.
