Gunjur man faces court for break-in, theft of D80,750 wires

Bubacarr Jallow of Gunjur appeared before Magistrate M. Dem at Brikama Magistrates’ Court on charges of breaking into a building, stealing, and damaging property. CPL 7232 E. Fofana prosecuted the case on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, while Jallow did not have legal representation. The prosecution alleged that on Aug. 25, 2025, Jallow unlawfully broke into Buba Darboe’s building in Gunjur, Kombo South, and stole electrical wires valued at D80,750, also causing damage to the wires and a house door.

Jallow pleaded not guilty to all charges after they were read to him and explained. The prosecuting officer did not oppose bail and requested an adjournment to call witnesses. The court granted bail set at D100,000 with two Gambian sureties. The case was adjourned to Oct. 20, 2025, for the first prosecution witness’s testimony.
