Two people died when their car hit a tree Monday night in Gweru. The crash happened around 10:30 PM on Bristol Road in the Mkoba 11 area. Police say the Toyota Aqua crashed during a chase with Constable Sakala from Mkoba police station.
Police spokesman Commissioner Paul Nyathi said they began investigating the incident following the April 28 crash. He mentioned that the police had seen videos about the accident circulating on social media. The police promised to punish Constable Sakala for his actions. They plan to take both criminal charges against him and handle them as a matter of police discipline.
