Gweru Hotel Fire Rips Through Rooms

Fire destroyed one room at Midlands Hotel during Friday evening hours around Gweru. The blaze burned beds, clothes and personal items belonging to people living there. Nobody suffered injuries during the emergency situation at the building. Firefighters received an emergency call about 7pm and rushed to help immediately. They broke through ceiling areas to stop flames from spreading further.

Felix Muguti leads the fire department for Gweru City Council and examined the scene afterward. His team climbed ladders to reach the first floor because stair doors stayed locked during the incident. Investigators believe a water heating kettle caused the electrical problem that started the fire. Someone probably left the device running when they should have turned it off earlier. The mistake created dangerous conditions that led to property damage.

Hotel residents thanked emergency workers for acting fast when the fire started. One person said they worried about losing their belongings but felt grateful for quick help. Another resident admitted feeling scared but appreciated how firefighters handled the dangerous situation. Civil Protection officials warned citizens about electrical safety during winter months. Cold weather makes people use more heating devices that can create fire risks.
