Harare Data Fever Sees 570 New Privacy Chiefs

Harare celebrated its first Data Controller License Certificate ceremony last week. Officials handed out certificates to more than 570 data controllers from Zimbabwe and nearby nations. The government wants companies to protect customer information better through these new licenses. Workers who earned certificates must teach others about data security at their jobs. Leaders praised the strong response from businesses across the region.

Government officials view certification as more than just following rules. They believe proper training helps protect sensitive customer data from hackers and criminals. The program teaches workers how to handle personal information safely. Companies that ignore data protection face serious risks from cyber attacks. Trained controllers help businesses avoid expensive security problems.

The Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe worked with Harare Institute of Technology to create the course. Both groups designed lessons that meet world standards for data protection. Students learned the best ways to guard private information at work. The program covers modern security methods that businesses need today. Organizers want more workers to complete certification next year.
