Harare Fashion Week Gets Luxe Makeover

Fashion lovers will head to the Hyatt Regency Harare when Zimbabwe Fashion Week returns October 8-12. The Meikles Hotel will host runway shows, design displays, classes, and meet-ups during the five-day event. Models will walk the catwalk showing off clothes from both famous designers and new talent. People can learn about making clothes that last longer and honor local traditions. The fashion bash has helped local artists find more buyers since 2009.

Priscilla Chigariro started this event to lift Zimbabwe fashion makers. She chose the Meikles because they care about high standards, just like her team does. Visitors will see modern styles next to designs based on Zimbabwe heritage. Clothes makers can sign up through the main website if they want to join the shows. Anyone interested in helping fund the event can email [email protected] For more details.
