A Harare primary school head faces serious corruption claims after a ministry audit found multiple wrongdoings. The report says Levyson Phiri at Kudakwashe Primary School broke tender rules and sold food meant for poor students. He also made parents buy expensive uniforms directly from the school. The investigation started when school officials noticed money problems between January 2022 and November 2023. Parents paid more than needed for uniforms before they could pay school fees.
The head worked with a groundsman to steal government mealie-meal bags for black market sales. Security caught one worker carrying a 44kg bag, who said the head told him to take it.
