The Environmental Management Agency (EMA) has rejected a new housing project in Greystone Park in Harare. That area is a wetland.
The developers did not get the right permits first. They need permits before they can build anything.
EMA told the people living there to leave. The agency wants all buildings to stop.

EMA wants cities to be careful about where they allow buildings. They should follow the rules in the National Wetlands Masterplan, which was created in 2021 and shows where all the wetlands in Zimbabwe are.
Sidange said they have mapped out and protected many wetlands. By the end of 2024, there were about 258,780 hectares.
Wetlands are important. They provide water and homes for animals and stop flooding. That is why EMA wants to keep them safe.
