Harare Trash Turned into 22MW Power Goldmine

Zimbabwe opened a new waste sorting plant at the Pomona facility near Harare. Workers use advanced technology to separate valuable materials from garbage before sending waste for energy production. The Herald newspaper reported that several international companies want to invest money into the project. The plant transforms the old Pomona dump into a modern waste-to-energy center.

Engineers expect the facility to produce 22 megawatts of electricity for Zimbabwe's power grid. The project helps solve Harare's long-standing trash disposal problems through energy conversion. Converting garbage into electricity reduces environmental damage and improves city cleanliness. International businesses from multiple countries offered support and funding for the waste facility operations.
