Harare Woman Wins Protection Order Against Ex

Beatrice Chiyadzwa ran to the Civil Court seeking protection from her dangerous ex-husband. She told the court about the constant threats and harassment after ending her marriage. Naboth Kuchitumu allegedly stalked her at work and her new home. He shouted insults and caused public disturbances wherever he found her. Her fear and desperation drove her to seek legal intervention.

The traumatized woman claimed her ex-husband sold her blankets and groceries after leaving her with nothing. He reportedly threatened her life and demanded she return to the marriage. Beatrice became emotional during her testimony and feared revealing her home address. She worried Kuchitumu would hunt her down and cause her harm. Her testimony painted a picture of persistent emotional and economic abuse.

Kuchitumu denied all allegations and claimed he only visited to check on their children. He said he wanted photocopies of their birth certificates and simply wanted to stay connected. The magistrate listened carefully to both sides of the story. Evidence of his repeated harassment seemed clear from Beatrice's account. His actions appeared calculated to intimidate and control her.

Ms. Meenal Naratom carefully considered the evidence presented during the hearing. She recognized the genuine threat Beatrice faced from her aggressive ex-husband. The magistrate granted a protection order against Kuchitumu. She warned him to stop threatening and abusing Beatrice immediately. Her ruling aimed to provide legal protection for the vulnerable woman.

The court's intervention represented a critical moment for Beatrice's safety. She could now seek peace without constant fear of attack. Her courage in speaking out against domestic abuse stood as a powerful statement. The protection order offered her a legal shield against further harassment. Her story highlighted the challenges many women face when leaving abusive relationships.
