Hernández destroys Phillies as Dodgers seize control

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernandez hit a decisive home run to secure Game 1 of the National League Division Series against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park on Saturday. Hernandez recorded hits in each of the Dodgers' first three playoff games and became the first player in Major League Baseball history to collect at least three home runs and nine RBIs in his team's opening three postseason contests, according to OptaSTATS. The performance marked a turnaround from his regular season statistics of a .247 batting average, a .738 OPS, 25 home runs, and 89 RBIs.

The numbers represented Hernandez's lowest batting average since 2019, and his weakest OPS since his 2016 rookie campaign. His postseason surge has provided momentum for the Dodgers as they advance in the playoffs. The victory silenced the home crowd and positioned Los Angeles favorably in the best-of-five series against Philadelphia.
