How do you apply for CIO jobs in Zimbabwe?

I see what you are trying to do.

But it would be best if you did something else with your life.

The CIO (Central Intelligence Organisation) is one of the Zimbabwean government's most critical eyes. It is an intelligence agency involved in sensitive national security matters.

Publicly disclosing specifics about the recruitment process is highly inappropriate!

I don't believe any of your questions can be honestly answered here on this platform because the CIO has long served as ZANU-PF's tool for repression. I don't understand why you want to be part of such an organization in the current situation with this ZANU-PF military junta, but I can say for sure that you won't get accurate answers about the CIO's operations here.

You were given the wrong information. They do advertise, but they don't reveal the details of the job, etc. They conduct interviews, etc. That's how my cousin got into the organization. He saw their ad in the Sunday Mail, went to an interview, and got the job. He was about 25 at the time and has been with them for 15 years. It's not an intelligence agency, but rather a political surveillance organization. Most of his work seems to involve managing informants who work for opposition leaders, helping FAZ, and infiltrating civil society groups.

You need to be referred to the Central Intelligence Organisation. So, if you know someone who is, you can ask them to refer you for a posting.

Explain that.

The usual route for recruitment is via specific universities and courses. For example, in the UK, the PPE at Oxford is the course to do if you want to get tapped up.

I heard the CIO also recruits from the Youth Service in Zimbabwe programme, formerly known as the National Youth Service (Border Gezi). The candidates are brainwashed to dedicate their lives to ZANU-PF interests.

Will General Chiwenga be the president of Zimbabwe one day?

When a father constantly has to remind the family that he is the father. Then something is wrong. This is Chiwenga's dilemma. He should have stayed in the military or become president himself. Emmerson Mnangagwa is a seasoned politician; if you blink twice, you lose.

Nonetheless, something tells me that Jonathan Moyo also wants the extension of Mnangagwa and the passing of the bill where the election of the president is by parliament to go through, Jonso will never forgive Chiwenga, for obvious reasons.

An enemy of your archenemy is your friend. Planning his downfall is just business, nothing personal.

Where is the CIO in all this?

Zimbabwe's proposed Constitutional Amendment Bill Number Three fundamentally alters the national electoral framework. The legislation replaces direct popular voting for the presidency with a parliamentary selection process. Furthermore, it extends presidential and parliamentary terms from five to seven years, potentially keeping the current administration in office until the year 2030.

Zimbabwe's proposed Constitutional Amendment No. 3 (2026) would repeal Section 92 to allow the president to be elected by a joint sitting of parliament instead of through a direct popular vote. It also extends presidential terms from five to seven years, applies the extension to the current president, and gives the president the power to appoint 10 more senators. Critics say it consolidates ZANU-PF's dominance and should require a referendum.

Now is the plan for Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa's successor to be selected via parliament while sidelining Chiwenga, e.g., Tagwirei?

If you are following the political drama in Zimbabwe, the whole "ED2030" agenda is basically a massive power play. President Emmerson Mnangagwa is supposed to hit his constitutional two-term limit in 2028. Instead of stepping down, the proposed plan is to bypass the direct national presidential vote entirely. The maneuver would let parliament pick the president and bump the term limit from five to seven years, which easily keeps Mnangagwa in office until at least 2030.

This is a huge deal because it directly cuts off Vice President Constantino Chiwenga. He is the former army general who helped orchestrate the 2017 transition of power, and he was heavily favored to take the top spot in 2028. To lock this down, pro-Mnangagwa factions have been systematically purging Chiwenga's key allies from the ZANU-PF party. Chiwenga's camp is not taking it quietly, though. They are reportedly fighting back by leaking dossiers that accuse Mnangagwa's inner circle of grand corruption.

Then you have Kudakwashe Tagwirei stepping into the mix. He is a wealthy man who is allegedly acting as the financial engine for the entire 2030 push. His resources are reportedly being used to lock in party support and secure official endorsements for the term extension. On top of that, Mnangagwa has been actively trying to elevate Tagwirei into formal ZANU-PF policy roles. It is a calculated move to build up a personal power base and water down the old-guard military influence that Chiwenga traditionally relies on.
