Zanzibar wants a bigger cheat code for African campus growth, and India got the invite. In New Delhi, President Hussein Ali Mwinyi met India's external affairs minister, S. Jaishankar, at the Taj Palace Hotel and pushed scholarships and training slots for Zanzibar students and professionals, alongside a permanent IIT Madras Zanzibar campus.
Mwinyi thanked India for backing Tanzania across health, schooling, commerce, water, investment, science, and digital tech. He passed Jaishankar the master plan for that site, seeking to make Zanzibar an African base for higher learning, research, new tools, and innovation. His pitch also seeks more academic programs.
