India and Zimbabwe Forge Closer Trade and Investment Ties

India and Zimbabwe plan to expand their trade connections, creating new investment chances to boost business between both countries. The Indian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Bramha Kumar, recently talked with Dr. Thomas Utete Wushe, who heads Zimbabwe's Industry and Commerce department. They discussed ways to increase trade and bring more money into Zimbabwe from Indian companies.

Kumar said he sees better business opportunities in Zimbabwe every day. He noted that more Indian workers live there than before, which shows the business climate keeps improving. Kumar asked both governments to move faster on plans they agreed on during their Joint Trade Commission meeting last May. They focused on key areas like medicine, mining, farming, cloth making, science, and training programs.

The Indian government offers a program that pays for Zimbabwean officials to learn new skills. Over 250 people from Zimbabwe have received these full scholarships through India's technical partnership plan. Kumar discussed exciting projects ahead, including team-ups between Jindal Steel and Zimbabwe's power company ZESA. Another partnership links RITES with Zimbabwe's railway system. These projects could greatly improve Zimbabwe's roads, power, and factories.

Dr. Wushe thanked India for helping Zimbabwe grow its economy and remembered the strong friendship between their countries. He described India as a key partner in their look east policy, seeing many chances for both nations to succeed together. He assured Indian business leaders that Zimbabwe would make investing easier with clear rules and special benefits for foreign companies. He emphasized that Zimbabwe offers an ideal location for reaching all of Africa and welcomed Indian businesses to expand across the continent.
