Intel Panther Lake Preps AI Powerhouse Leap

Intel prepares new computer chips called Panther Lake that will help the company compete better against rivals. These processors will use Intel's latest 18A manufacturing process. Recent findings show they contain Cougar Cove performance cores with Darkmont efficiency cores instead of previously expected Skymont cores.

The upcoming chips feature Xe3 Celestial graphics. Several models will arrive with different core combinations. The most powerful version packs four performance cores and eight efficiency cores with 45 watts of power. These processors can briefly use up to 80 watts when needed. New AI engines in these chips deliver 180 TOPS of processing power, much more than current models.

Panther Lake supports faster memory, including LPDDR5X at speeds up to 8533 MT/s. Intel already shares test samples with computer makers. The company plans to launch these chips in late 2025, with full production ramping up in 2026. These processors matter greatly for Intel as both its main chip business and manufacturing services depend on their success.
