Intel XeSS 2 Supercharges Gameplay With Insane Speed

Intel added XeSS 2 support to more games as their upscaling tech reaches over 200 titles. XeSS first came out three years ago but keeps improving with version 2, which launched last March. The newer tech trails behind NVIDIA DLSS 4.0 but runs on 19 games already, with more coming soon. Intel wants its tech in major games like Assassin's Creed: Shadow, which arrives May 19.

Tests show that XeSS 2 doubles frame rates compared to running games at native resolution. An Arc B580 graphics card jumps from about 35 frames per second to over 80 frames with the tech turned on. Intel also showed how its XeLL feature cuts display lag in half for games like Marvel Rivals, AC Shadows, and F1 24. This makes games feel more responsive.

Laptop users with new Core Ultra chips see major benefits too. The Arc 140T inside these laptops can hit 60 frames per second at 1080p resolution with XeSS 2 running. This proves impossible at native settings without upscaling help. A game developer praised the tech for sharp images that look almost like native resolution.
