Jaishankar meets Qatari Amir in Doha

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with Qatar's leadership in Doha to advance bilateral cooperation between the two nations. The minister conveyed greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi while meeting Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and expressed commitment to strengthening relations. Discussions with Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani centered on strategic partnership elements, including energy collaboration, trade expansion, investment opportunities, and cultural exchanges.

Both sides reviewed regional developments across the Middle East and West Asia while exploring avenues for deeper cooperation. Qatar's foreign ministry confirmed the talks addressed mutual concerns and methods to enhance partnerships. India and Qatar established diplomatic relations in 1973, with ties elevated to strategic partnership status when the Qatari ruler visited India earlier this year.
