Jamaat rally overruns Dhaka, demands genocide trials now

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islam assembled thousands of supporters at Suhrawardy Udyan for their national demonstration. Dr. Shafiqur Rahman led the gathering that commenced at 2pm with Holy Quran recitation. Activists filled the historic venue and surrounding areas before the official start time. The party mobilized supporters across the capital since early morning hours. Leaders positioned members throughout various districts beyond the main rally site.

The organization presented seven key demands during the event. Party officials called for equal electoral opportunities and fair voting processes. They demanded accountability for genocide cases and fundamental governmental changes. The group urged implementation of July Charter provisions and support for affected families. Jamaat representatives requested proportional representation elections and overseas voting access for expatriate citizens.
