Johor identifies 339 flood-prone spots for the monsoon season

The Johor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) has identified 339 flood-prone areas across 10 districts as part of its preparations for the upcoming northeast monsoon season. Director Siti Rohani Nadir stated that these areas include 66 in Muar, 47 in Batu Pahat, and 44 in Johor Bahru, among others.

Additionally, 23 critical slope areas in seven districts have been flagged. The department is fully equipped with 1,462 personnel, 46 four-wheel-drive vehicles, 11 lorries, 47 marine assets, and basic water rescue gear, including 140 rescue ropes and 1,147 life jackets.

To improve aerial operations, 119 helicopter landing zones have been set up across the state. Meanwhile, a recent 4WD driving exercise and flood-risk study were held in Mersing to prepare for the monsoon season, strengthening disaster response capabilities.
