Junior Champs Shine Bright at White City Stadium Showdown

Youth coach Briad Nhubu called the National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe Junior Championships successful. The competition at White City Stadium brought together top young athletes from across the country. Officials used this final selection event to pick teams for upcoming African tournaments.

Athletes delivered exciting performances as representatives from all ten provinces competed. Many students who excelled at secondary school finals maintained their winning form at this event. Watershed's Kimberly Kachambwa won the women's discus throw with 34.42m. She previously earned silver at last year's continental championships.

Triple jumper Leeroy Chishaya from Musariri High School leaped 14.30m for first place. Prince Edward School's Tatenda Chindowa cleared 2.01m in the high jump. Moillar Makamu claimed both women's long jump with 5.35m and triple jump at 11.23m. Evans Kereke ran 4:00.19 in the middle distance as Tawananyasha Chimunya sprinted to victory in both 100m and 200m races.

Several companies supported the event, including NetOne, Econet, POSB, and Lobels. National competitions director Manuel Mpofu praised the strong attendance. Selectors will finalize teams for July's regional games in Namibia and continental championships in Algeria.
