Justice Moses Chinhengo dies in Masvingo at 69

Justice Moses Hungwe Chinhengo passed away yesterday at age 69 in Masvingo. The Judicial Service Commission spokesperson, Daniel Nemukuyu, announced the former High Court judge's death without revealing specific medical causes. Legal professionals across Zimbabwe expressed deep sympathy for the Chinhengo family during this difficult period. Chief Justice Luke Malaba and fellow judiciary members shared condolences through official channels. The announcement brought sadness throughout the legal community.

Chinhengo received his Zimbabwe High Court appointment in 2004 after establishing himself as a respected legal expert. International courts recognized his abilities when Botswana selected him as a High Court judge. Lesotho later appointed him as an acting Judge of Appeal, while Namibia also utilized his judicial expertise. His regional service demonstrated widespread recognition of his legal knowledge. Multiple Southern African nations benefited from his judicial contributions.

The University of Zimbabwe awarded Chinhengo his law degree in 1978. Government service began immediately after independence when he joined the Ministry of Justice and Foreign Affairs as an undersecretary until 1982. His promotion led to leadership positions over Parliamentary Affairs and Justice Department operations. Mourners gather at his Nyaningwe farm while the family prepares burial plans.
