Kaizer Chiefs, Stellies chase CAF glory

Kaizer Chiefs and Stellenbosch FC will each receive at least $400,000 after advancing to the CAF Confederation Cup group stages. The South African clubs earned their places by winning preliminary matches and can increase their payouts to $550,000 by reaching the quarterfinals. Chiefs eliminated Kabuscorp from Angola and AS Simba from Congo, while Stellenbosch continued its continental campaign after last season's semifinal appearance.

The financial rewards represent a boost for both teams under CAF President Patrice Motsepe's expanded prize structure. The Chiefs last competed at this level in 2021 when the team lost the Champions League final to Al Ahly. Officials will conduct the group stage draw on Monday in Johannesburg to determine opponents for the next phase of competition.
