Kampala duo nabbed for orphanage fund fraud

Kampala Metropolitan Police arrested two Kawaala Central Zone businessmen who stole £5,970 from British citizen John Bridges. The money should have helped Ugandan orphans, but these men spent it on themselves instead.

Police identified the suspects as 27-year-old Jonathan Kizito, nicknamed Jona, and 20-year-old Titus Kyalimpa. They tricked their victim for four years between 2020 and 2024. They lied about sending money to the Children of God Orphanage in Uganda, but police found that the orphanage never received any funds.

Patrick Onyango, who speaks for Kampala Metropolitan Police, explained that they caught these men after looking into missing charity money. He said these businessmen took advantage of someone trying to help vulnerable children.

The police will bring both suspects to Buganda Road court, where they will face criminal charges for lying to steal money. Onyango confirmed that they specifically face charges of obtaining money through false claims.
