Kampala Police Arrest 11 Students in Anti-Pipeline Protest

Police caught 11 students who walked on the street to speak against a big oil pipe. These students came from many schools in Kampala. They wore orange shirts with words about stopping the oil pipe.

The police said these students broke the rules by walking together and shouting. Mr. Onyango from the police told everyone they took the students to the police station. The students must answer for making noise in public places.

This oil pipe will carry oil from Uganda to Tanzania. Many people worry that it might harm animals, plants, and water. The pipe belongs to a company called Total Energies.

People who care about nature do not want this oil pipe built. They say it will harm the land where people live. The police have seen many groups walk and shout about this pipe before.
