Armed attackers stormed the residence of Buzaya Constituency MP Martin Muzale in Kasambira village, Nawanyago town council. Sowedi Egumbye led the machete-wielding group that breached the compound gates during a briefing session with political agents. The assailants wounded five individuals and abducted polling agents before fleeing in four commuter taxis. Security forces comprising police and military personnel pursued the suspects after receiving alerts from Muzale. Busoga North police spokesperson Michael Kasadha confirmed the deployment of patrol units to intercept the attackers.
Officers discharged warning shots into the air, attempting to force surrender from the fleeing suspects. The attackers refused to comply with security demands and continued their escape attempt. Authorities targeted one vehicle with live ammunition during the pursuit operation. Egumbye died from gunshot wounds sustained during the confrontation with security personnel. Police recovered machetes, hammers, hoes, and knives from the four vehicles while Sarah Auma, Egumbye's wife, campaigns for the National Resistance Movement LCV position in Kamuli district.
