Kano APC Split on Kwankwaso Comeback

The Kano APC chapter seems split about Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso possibly coming back. State Chairman Abdullahi Abbas said at a press conference that he welcomes the former governor's return after his NNPP expulsion. Abbas made clear that anyone who insulted party leaders must apologize first, especially those who criticized President Tinubu or Vice President Shettima.

The chairman stressed that the APC remains open for new members but won't protect people facing legal troubles. Not everyone agrees with Abbas—party spokesman Ahmed Aruwa firmly rejected Kwankwaso's return. He pointed to demolitions under the NNPP government that hurt local businesses. Aruwa believes Kwankwaso would bring confusion rather than strength to the party.

NNPP Kano Chairman Hashimu Dungurawa told reporters his members will follow Kwankwaso anywhere he goes. He called the defection talks just rumors for the moment. Kwankwaso's allies have denied he plans to join the APC. The NNPP faces an internal leadership fight between Kwankwaso and party founder Boniface Aniebonam. Kwankwaso has not publicly addressed these rumors about his next political move.
