Kenya holds fuel prices steady despite global oil shifts

Kenya kept fuel prices flat for another month after the energy regulator said gas stations can keep charging what they've been charging since mid-November. Nairobi drivers are still paying 184.52 shillings per liter for super petrol, 171.47 for diesel, and 154.78 for kerosene through mid-January, while Mombasa and other cities have their own slightly different caps.

The government pricing agency mentioned that import costs for regular gas actually dropped over 4% between October and November, but diesel and kerosene both got more expensive to bring in. Global oil markets have been cooling off because OPEC ramped up production by 137,000 barrels daily, and inventories are sitting pretty high right now.

All the listed prices already have the 16% tax baked in per the finance laws from 2023 and 2024.
