Kenya launches convention bureau for 2026 summit push

Kenya just set up a whole bureau to handle big international conferences and events after getting picked to host a massive three-bloc African summit in 2026. President Ruto's cabinet greenlit the Kenya National Convention Bureau to lock down the country as a top spot for business meetings and exhibitions while prepping for the COMESA-EAC-SADC gathering.

The tripartite summit brings together 29 African countries with over 700 million people and a combined GDP past 1.4 trillion dollars. Officials think the move will pull in foreign investment, create jobs, and boost tourism revenue by making Kenya the go-to destination for high-value regional events.

A multi-agency organizing committee has already been launched to handle logistics and planning for next year's summit.
