Kids fry to death at Durga Puja in Jabalpur chaos

The National Human Rights Commission took independent action on Monday after reports emerged that two children died from electrocution inside a Durga Puja pavilion in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. The victims, identified as 8-year-old Ayush Jharia and Ved Shrivas, approximately 10 years old, were contacted by an electrified iron pipe on Sept. 24 due to faulty wiring by event organizers. The commission issued notices to the state chief secretary and the Jabalpur police superintendent, requesting a detailed investigation report within two weeks. Preliminary findings from the electricity department revealed that illegally drawn power caused the fatal incident, prompting authorities to form a three-member investigative team led by a sub-divisional magistrate.
