Shringla praises Durga Puja pandals with Modi, Sindoor flair in Bagdogra

Former Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla toured Durga Puja celebrations on Sunday in the Bagdogra region and opened a pandal organized by Bagdogra Bibadi Natya Bohumukhi Sangstha. The Rajya Sabha member praised artistic displays at multiple venues, and he observed patriotic themes featuring Operation Sindoor along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi birthday tributes. Shringla stated that attendees expressed solidarity with military forces following recent security operations. The Hindu festival honors Goddess Durga defeating demon Mahishasura, and it symbolizes the triumph of righteousness over wickedness.

The celebration started on Sept. 27, and it will end on Oct. 2 with Vijaya Dashami. West Bengal hosts the most prominent observances, but Bihar, Tripura, Assam, and Odisha also mark the occasion with elaborate ceremonies. Communities gather for rituals, performances, feasts, and processions during the multiday event. Families reunite to honor themes of strength, courage, and feminine power through cultural activities.
