Modi hijacks CR Park Durga Puja for Bengal nod

Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined Durga Puja festivities on Tuesday at the Kali Bari temple in Chittaranjan Park, a neighborhood recognized for its Bengali cultural traditions. Modi performed evening prayers to Goddess Durga and participated in the sandhya aarti ceremony organized by the CR Park Durga Puja Cooperative Society. The visit drew thousands of attendees who witnessed the prime minister's participation in the religious observances.

Political analysts view the appearance as an appeal to Bengali voters ahead of the 2026 West Bengal assembly elections. Modi stated that he attended the celebration to honor the community's cultural vibrancy and offered prayers for the welfare of its citizens. Local residents, many descended from East Pakistan refugees, welcomed the visit with enthusiasm as security measures restricted traffic throughout South Delhi during the event.
