Kimmel opens Big Beautiful Food Bank to aid LA families

Jimmy Kimmel has established a donation center on his Hollywood studio lot in response to potential disruptions affecting federal food assistance programs. The late-night host created the Big Beautiful Food Bank after the government shutdown threatened funding for SNAP benefits, which serve more than 42 million Americans nationwide.

The facility accepts contributions of shelf-stable food items, baby supplies and personal care products. A senior SNAP official named Ronald Ward has cautioned that without a budget resolution, the program may lack sufficient resources to distribute benefits during the current month. Kimmel announced the initiative through social media, noting that reduced access to food assistance programs would create hardship for children, elderly residents and families across the country.

The donation site operates from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day at 6901 Hawthorn Ave in Los Angeles. Kimmel encouraged those outside the area to contribute to food banks within their local communities.
