KNUST Probes Student Death Near Disability Centre

KNUST officials have launched an investigation after fourth-year Biological Sciences student Miss Joana Deladem Yabani was found dead on campus.

Security personnel discovered the student's body near the Disability and Rehabilitation Centre at approximately 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 27. Medical staff at University Health Services subsequently confirmed her death.

Deputy Registrar Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe issued a statement explaining that multiple departments are working together on the case. "A comprehensive investigation is underway in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Department, KNUST Internal Security, and the University Health Services to determine the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate incident," the statement read.

University administrators have asked the public not to spread unverified information about the case. They emphasized the importance of respecting the privacy of the deceased student's family during this difficult period.

The institution has reassured students, staff, and the wider community of its commitment to maintaining safety across campus. Officials continue to gather evidence regarding the circumstances that led to this tragic event.
