Kunkuyu vows MCP will rise again like Lazarus

Former Information Minister Moses Kalongashawa Kunkuyu told Malawi Congress Party supporters the organization will regain authority after reflecting on electoral defeats. The campaign director spoke on Zodiak Television on Tuesday night and said established networks across the nation kept MCP as the strongest opposition force through three decades outside government. Kunkuyu acknowledged voters abandoned the party after leaders failed to address food access, fuel supplies, and currency problems that raised costs for basic goods. He claimed the Democratic Progressive Party government under Arthur Peter Mutharika continues the same struggles with citizens still waiting in queues at fuel stations.

MCP leader Lazarus Chakwera lost the presidency to Mutharika on September 16. The campaign official said party members will gather to examine mistakes before the upcoming elections. Kunkuyu compared the anticipated political recovery to the biblical resurrection of Lazarus described in John Chapter 11. He maintained that grassroots structures remain strong enough to support a return to power despite public dissatisfaction with past performance.
