Light to Moderate Rain Expected Across Bangladesh in Next 24 Hours

Weather forecasters predict rain will fall across most of Bangladesh during the next day. The Met Office expects light and moderate rainfall to begin at 9 a.m. Thursday morning. Thunderstorms may bring lightning and strong wind gusts to several regions. Heavy downpours could hit some areas of the country. The weather service warns people to prepare for wet conditions.

A low-pressure system has developed over the Northwest Bay near Bangladesh. This weather pattern sits adjacent to the country's coastal waters. The monsoon winds remain active and bring moisture from the ocean. Weather experts describe the monsoon as moderate to strong over the North Bay. These conditions fuel the rainy weather moving across the region.

Temperature readings varied widely across Bangladesh on Wednesday. Srimangal recorded the hottest temperature at 35.1 degrees Celsius during the day. Bandarban measured the coolest temperature at 24.3 degrees Celsius early Thursday. The capital city will see sunset at 6:50 p.m. Thursday. Sunrise will occur at 5:11 a.m. Friday morning for residents of Dhaka.
