Liverpool Mourns Diogo Jota's Tragic Death as Tributes Pour In

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah struggled to find words after learning about teammate Diogo Jota's tragic death. The Egyptian forward admitted he felt scared about returning to the club without his friend there. Salah called the loss extremely hard to accept and said teammates usually leave but never like this. The striker shared his sympathy for Jota's family during this terrible time. He promised that both Jota and his brother Andre would always be remembered.

Jota died alongside his younger brother Andre Silva during a car accident on Thursday morning. The crash happened around half past midnight according to Spanish police reports. The Portuguese forward was driving back to Liverpool for pre-season training instead of flying. Doctors had told him not to take planes because he recently had minor surgery. The 28-year-old player had married his longtime girlfriend Rute Cardoso just eleven days before the fatal crash.

Liverpool quickly changed their training schedule after hearing the devastating news. Players were supposed to return on Friday for fitness tests but the club pushed everything back. The team will have a gradual return starting Monday instead of the original plan. Their first pre-season match against Preston North End remains set for July 13th. Former teammate Caoimhin Kelleher also paid tribute to his close friend from Portugal.

Fans have been leaving flowers and messages at both Liverpool and Wolverhampton stadiums. The Portuguese town of Gondomar plans a vigil on Friday followed by funeral services Saturday morning. Liverpool opened a condolence book at Anfield for supporters to sign. People can also leave messages online for fans around the world to share their grief.
