London cops face Tommy Robinson protest violence

Metropolitan Police reported attacks against officers during Saturday's demonstrations that brought more than 110,000 protesters to the London streets. Tommy Robinson organized the Unite the Kingdom march while opposition groups staged counter-demonstrations across the British capital. Far-right demonstrators breached security cordons designed to separate opposing factions from each other. Officers sustained injuries from projectiles and physical assaults when they intervened to prevent confrontations between rival groups. Assistant Commissioner Matt Twist condemned the violence and promised robust investigations would follow.

Twenty-six police officers required medical attention while authorities arrested twenty-five individuals during the disorder. Protesters carried British and English flags as they marched toward the Whitehall government districts. Robinson declared that patriotism and border control represented the future for Britain during his address to supporters. Counter-demonstrators chanted anti-fascist slogans while politicians delivered speeches condemning hate rhetoric. Police had previously advised Muslim residents that they should feel safe traveling through London despite concerns about anti-Muslim sentiment at previous rallies.
