M5 iPad Pro to get portrait front camera, correcting the M4 design

Apple prepares M5 iPad Pro tablets for release during the second half of 2024. The company maintains existing 11-inch and 13-inch display dimensions while upgrading internal processors. Engineers address user complaints by adding a second front-facing camera positioned in portrait orientation. Current M4 models feature landscape-oriented cameras that complicate selfie photography and video calling experiences. TSMC will manufacture the M5 chipset using advanced third-generation 3nm technology processes.

Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman confirmed the dual-camera addition through recent industry sources. Current M4 iPad Pro models receive substantial discounts ranging from $100 to $300, depending on storage configurations. The base 11-inch version starts at $899 after price reductions. Consumers can purchase existing models immediately or wait for upcoming M5 releases. Apple expects to maintain identical design aesthetics between the M4 and M5 generations.
