Two men facing rape accusations against social media star Mai Jeremaya (Ashley Masendeke) say they had a money dispute after consensual sex. Thabo Blessing Dube, 27, and Martin Charlie, 25, appeared in court Monday following their weekend arrest. The alleged incident happened at an Eastlea lodge in Harare. Mai Jeremaya chose to reveal her identity through an online video about her claims, gaining support from women and fellow internet personalities.
Prosecutors did not fight for bail for the suspects, but Magistrate Marewanazvo Gofa requested more details. The accused claims Charlie met Mai Jeremaya at Joina City and agreed to sex for $20. They say she undressed herself, had willing relations with Charlie, showered afterward, took payment, and left in a taxi. Dube states he never participated in any sexual activity.
