Alexander Afenyo-Markin spoke during the parliamentary session following the President's address to the nation. He criticized the administration for removing staff members who had secured their positions through legitimate means prior to the current government taking power.
The Chief of Staff issued instructions to dismiss employees appointed after 7 December 2024. Evidence suggests certain organizations have extended these dismissals to include staff hired earlier. The Ghana Water Company Limited reportedly terminated employees who started their roles as early as November 2024.
Mr Afenyo-Markin, who represents the Effutu constituency, pointed out that the current administration has become associated with widespread job losses during its first months in office. He shared public sentiment by stating: "On the streets of Accra today, the youth are saying Mahama baako, termination bebree."
