Man Leaves White Roses then Vanishes into Sea

Police are searching for a man who walked into the ocean late Saturday at Swakopmund Jetty. Officers describe him as fair-skinned and wearing a red shirt, blue pants, a gray cap, and black sunglasses. Senior Inspector Judith Shomongula said they consider him alive until they find evidence otherwise.

Someone reported that the man left white roses on the beach before entering the water. Police teamed up with Navy personnel and sea rescue groups Sunday morning to look for him. Search teams faced challenges from strong water swells and dangerous currents at the spot marked as unsafe for swimming.

Authorities want people who are missing a family member to call Detective Chief Inspector Dino Skrywer at 0814223210 or Detective Warrant Officer Epson Ronnie Gariseb at 0812031808. They can also visit any police station to report missing persons.
