MAPCO ships 6,000 tonnes of black gram out

Myanmar Agribusiness Public Co Ltd shipped 6,000 metric tons of black gram to India and Pakistan during the second week. The company delivered 4,250 metric tons of standard quality black gram through Chennai Port and 1,725 metric tons via Karachi Port. MAPCO operates contract farming across 19,992 acres while providing seeds and fertilizer to monsoon paddy farmers.

Myanmar aims to surpass 1.8 million tons in pulse exports this fiscal year, generating $1.5 billion in revenue. The nation exported 2.14 million tons of pulses, worth $1.82 billion, during the 2024-2025 period. India agreed to import 250,000 tons of black gram and 100,000 tons of pigeon peas annually from Myanmar through 2025-2026 under a government agreement signed in June 2021. Weak foreign demand has pushed pulse prices lower.
