Mchombo urges health workers to serve like St Luke

Anglican Bishop William Mchombo called for renewed dedication from medical staff at St Luke's Hospital in Malosa. The leader addressed workers at the October 16 celebrations, stating that complaints indicate a decline in patient attention at health facilities. He blamed mobile phone distractions for undermining care quality and stressed that every medical case demands urgent response. The bishop serves the Upper Shire Diocese based in Zomba.

Hospital administrator Winas Boma said the annual observance honors the biblical physician's legacy of compassionate service. Staff members guided by Christian principles gather each year to evaluate their treatment approach. St Luke's Hospital and St Luke's College of Health Sciences mark the occasion together rather than on the traditional October 18 date. Boma said the patron saint's example reminds workers to provide compassionate care to sick people.
