MDD calls on Ruto and Odinga to adopt dialogue report

The Movement for the Defense of Democracy has called on President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to immediately implement the National Dialogue Committee report. According to the group, this report contains answers to many of Kenya's current challenges. Young citizens and all Kenyans should demand that these ideas become reality. They reached these conclusions after meeting on Wednesday.

The NADCO report suggests creating a position for the Leader of the Official Opposition. This leader would come from the party or coalition that finished second in the presidential election. The plan includes giving this person at least two deputy leaders. Another major recommendation establishes a Prime Minister position. The President would nominate someone for this role, but the National Assembly must approve the choice before anything happens.

MDD fully supports the public meetings Raila started about his political future and his ODM party's direction. They promised to back whatever decision he made after these talks. The group described Raila as a champion of social justice, honest government, constitutional values, and economic freedom. They urged him to keep these principles central during his discussions with President Ruto and make sure fairness wins out.

The lobby group expressed concern about various political players trying to involve Raila in their schemes. They asked people and regions who never backed Raila previously to stop interfering with him. MDD rejected attempts by others to use Raila and his supporters as political stepping stones. Communities that have historically supported Raila want space to examine their place in Kenya with him as their leader without outside meddling.
