Meadowlands braces for nine-hour Eskom power cut

Meadowlands residents better charge their phones because the grid goes dark very soon. Eskom announced a nine-hour blackout hitting Zones 2 through 6 in Soweto to perform distribution network maintenance. This planned outage runs from morning until evening while technicians service infrastructure to supposedly keep the supply reliable and safe.

Officials warn that full restoration might lag behind schedule in certain spots due to technical glitches like airlocks. They insist everyone treat appliances as live electricity sources throughout the blackout, just in case the juice returns early.

This specific interruption targets efficiency upgrades within Gauteng rather than being part of a wider load shedding schedule. The utility claims these fixes prevent bigger disasters later as they attempt to stabilize the shaky grid after years of neglect.

Locals should prep backup power for medical devices and stock up on non-perishable food. Frustrated residents voiced annoyance on social media about the service gap despite the advanced notice.
