Mehazabien Chowdhury gets bail in fraud case

Television performer Mehazabien Chowdhury obtained bail from a Dhaka magistrate's court after surrendering in connection with accusations of embezzlement and intimidation. The actress and her brother, Alisan Chowdhury, appeared before Judge Afroza Tania following the issuance of arrest warrants for their failure to attend a previous hearing.

Complainant Amirul Islam alleged he provided approximately 2.7 million taka to Mehazabien for a partnership venture that never materialized. Islam claimed that when he attempted to recover his funds at a Hatirjheel Road establishment, the siblings and several unidentified individuals threatened him with violence. Authorities at Vatara Police Station directed him to pursue legal action through the magistrate system.

Mehazabien denied wrongdoing through social media before her court appearance, asserting her compliance with legal standards. Following the bail grant, she displayed confidence while addressing assembled reporters.
