Micro Center Shopper Finds Backpacks in ZOTAC 5090 Box

A customer bought a ZOTAC RTX 5090 graphics card from Micro Center Santa Clara. He opened the sealed box and found backpacks instead of the expensive computer part. The store confirmed 31 other customers faced the same problem with ZOTAC RTX 5090 cards. Workers discovered someone had tampered with the boxes before they reached the store. The customer received a replacement card without any trouble.

Micro Center investigated the strange incidents and traced the problem back to China. Officials learned that workers at the ZOTAC factory had altered the boxes before shipping. ZOTAC contacted the Reddit user after learning about the complaints. The missing graphics cards cost more than 90,000 dollars across all affected boxes. Store managers recommend that customers film unboxing videos to protect themselves from similar scams.
