MKP probes suspended leader Hlophe, verdict due by January

The uMkhonto weSizwe Party has started an internal investigation into its suspended deputy president, Dr. John Hlophe. This inquiry, focusing on allegations of misconduct, is expected to conclude by the end of next month.

Hlophe, the party's parliamentary leader and a former Western Cape Judge President, was impeached last year. He later joined the MKP, attaining a senior leadership position. His current suspension stems from separate party matters, not his prior judicial issues.

The party emphasizes a fair process, allowing Hlophe to respond to the claims. The outcome could impact the MKP's unity and public image as it prepares for upcoming local elections. A resolution is sought quickly to maintain political focus.
