Mnangagwa Hails SMEs as Key to Economic Growth at Market Event

President Mnangagwa says small businesses drive economic growth! He made these remarks when opening the new Mbare Musika Traders Market. The fancy market helps 1,628 traders who lost everything in a fire last year. Small companies create jobs, wealth and empower people across Zimbabwe.

The President visited Uganda recently for an African sustainability meeting, where they discussed creating jobs for young people and women. He wants entrepreneurs to start more small businesses using digital tech. His government promises low-interest loans, business help, skills training, and market access for small traders.

Market operators must keep fees affordable for traders. Everyone needs to take care of these modern facilities. Small businesses should work with government departments to become formal businesses. The government plans to make starting a business easier through simpler registration and fewer fees.

Phase 2 of Mbare Musika will be a multi-story building with better toilets and fire safety. Masimba Construction partnered with the government to finish the first phase. Minister Garwe announced that the next phase will fit 10,000 traders with banks, police, security cameras, and fire systems.
